Hong Kong's Department of Health has announced new regulations requiring plain packaging for tobacco products, set to commence in March. This initiative aims to decrease smoking prevalence across the city. Under the forthcoming rules, all retail cigarette packs, extended cigarette boxes, and specific cigar types will be mandated to remove brand logos, distinctive designs, and any advertising elements. Manufacturers will only be permitted to display brand and variant names using a standardized font and format. This move represents a renewed effort by authorities to discourage tobacco consumption through visual restrictions on packaging.
