Hongik University is set to initiate a significant redevelopment of its Seoul campus, known as the New Hongik Project, on October 14. This extensive construction endeavor, valued at 441 billion won or approximately 324.5 million dollars, will transform the current landscape of the university grounds. The site, which currently features open dirt fields and tiered seating areas used by students, is scheduled for a complete overhaul. This development marks a substantial investment in the institution's infrastructure, signaling a shift from the existing campus environment to a modernized facility. The project represents a major capital commitment aimed at enhancing the university's physical footprint in the capital city.
