The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has formally dismissed recent concerns expressed by the United Nations Human Rights Office regarding internal events in New Delhi. In an official statement released on October 11, the government characterized the UN's remarks as an inappropriate intrusion into its sovereign matters. New Delhi emphasized that its democratic framework protects the right to peaceful assembly, provided that such activities do not compromise public safety or order. Furthermore, the ministry highlighted that its law enforcement agencies operate strictly within legal boundaries and that citizens possess the right to seek redress through the nation’s independent judicial system. India also criticized the UN body for allegedly employing double standards, claiming that the organization has remained silent regarding violent protest crackdowns and police conduct in other nations while unfairly targeting India.
