The Indian cabinet has officially sanctioned a significant financial allocation of Rs 1.86 lakh crore aimed at expanding the nation's green energy infrastructure. This project focuses on enhancing the Intra-State Transmission System to facilitate the efficient distribution of renewable power. By upgrading these transmission networks, the initiative intends to support the evacuation of as much as 135 gigawatts of clean energy throughout various states and union territories. This strategic move is designed to bolster the country's capacity to integrate large-scale renewable energy sources into the national grid, thereby supporting India's broader transition toward sustainable power generation and improved energy security across its diverse administrative regions.
