The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia announced that approximately 268,000 taxpayers have successfully submitted 1.99 billion e-invoices as of October 1. CEO Datuk Abu Tariq Jamaluddin noted that the fourth phase of the digital invoicing rollout involved over 196,000 participants. During the launch of Bulan HASiL 2026, he highlighted a significant policy adjustment regarding the exemption threshold. Effective September 1, 2026, the government raised the annual turnover limit for e-invoicing requirements from RM1 million to RM3 million. This change is designed to support micro, small, and medium enterprises by relieving those earning below the new threshold from mandatory compliance. The initiative remains part of the government's phased transition toward a fully digital tax reporting system.
