Saeed Khatibzadeh, the head of the Center for Political and International Studies at Iran's Foreign Ministry, recently traveled to Moscow to hold discussions with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Ryabkov. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing various international and regional concerns. Both officials examined the current state of affairs in West Asia, particularly in light of heightened regional tensions. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the dialogue was conducted in a cooperative spirit, emphasizing the implementation of the Comprehensive Strategic Treaty signed by Presidents Masoud Pezeshkian and Vladimir Putin. This agreement, which officially took effect in October 2025, serves as the foundation for ongoing diplomatic coordination between Tehran and Moscow. The two diplomats reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close consultations on matters of mutual interest within global forums.
