Researchers from China and Kazakhstan have initiated a collaborative project to identify archaeological evidence related to the ancient Yuezhi civilization. Professor Wang Jianxin of Northwest University in Xi’an announced the initiative during an international symposium held in Astana. While the Yuezhi are frequently mentioned in historical Chinese documents, physical remains linked to this nomadic group have proven difficult to locate. The team aims to bridge the gap between written records and tangible historical sites. By examining specific locations within Kazakhstan, experts hope to uncover new data that clarifies the migration and settlement patterns of the Yuezhi, who are historically significant to the Silk Road era. This partnership seeks to resolve long-standing questions regarding the identity and geographical footprint of this enigmatic ancient population.
