The Kenyan government has officially inaugurated the Thamani Asili Program, a decade-long financial strategy valued at 160 million dollars aimed at enhancing wildlife protection and ecosystem health. Announced by Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, the initiative seeks to integrate environmental conservation with community development, water security, and climate adaptation efforts. The funding structure relies on a partnership between the public sector and private philanthropy, with the state providing 80 million dollars. An equivalent amount is being sourced through The Nature Conservancy to support these goals. By fostering sustainable economic growth, the program intends to safeguard the nation's natural heritage while simultaneously improving the livelihoods of local populations living near protected areas.
