Authorities in Dhaka have detained Member of Parliament Gazi Nazrul Islam along with his first spouse, Maksuda Begum, for questioning. This action follows the discovery of the deceased body of the legislator's second wife, 19-year-old Mosammat Mariam Khatun, who was found hanging inside the NAM Bhaban residential complex. Deputy Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Ibn-e Mizan, confirmed that the Criminal Investigation Department's crime scene unit has processed the area to gather forensic evidence. The investigation is currently ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the young woman's death.
