The Madhya Pradesh High Court has requested a formal response from the state government following a public interest litigation concerning the deaths of over 30 children in the Balaghat district. The petition, submitted by Anshul Tiwari, highlights reports of a potential measles and malaria outbreak affecting the Baiga and Gond tribal communities. According to the filing, the local healthcare infrastructure is severely overwhelmed, with approximately 400 patients reportedly being managed in a facility equipped for only 50 beds. The legal action follows reports that these fatalities went unnoticed for two months due to a lack of medical services in remote tribal areas. A division bench, led by Acting Chief Justice Vivek Rusia and Justice Pradeep Mittal, has issued official notices to the State Health Department to address these allegations of inadequate medical care.
