Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has cautioned against external influences attempting to destabilize the nation, urging residents of Alberta to vote against separation in the upcoming referendum scheduled for October 19. Speaking at a rally in Calgary, Carney emphasized that pursuing independence would result in prolonged instability and economic uncertainty. While acknowledging regional grievances regarding energy policy, he promoted the Pacific Link pipeline project as a viable solution to generate employment and decrease reliance on American markets. The provincial ballot contains ten distinct questions covering topics such as constitutional authority, immigration, and public services, with the separation inquiry focusing on initiating a legal framework for potential future independence. Although Premier Danielle Smith advocates for maintaining the province's status within Canada, she has expressed support for the other measures included in the referendum.
