Law enforcement in Peshawar is facing an emerging security threat as militants have begun deploying commercially purchased drones to conduct remote strikes against police facilities. Recent incidents include an attack on the Tarnab police post, which resulted in four injuries, and a subsequent attempted strike in Mattani. In the latter case, protective metal mesh and shielding successfully prevented significant damage, though a police vehicle was impacted. Authorities have expressed concern regarding this tactical shift, noting that these unmanned aerial vehicles allow attackers to strike from a distance of several kilometers without engaging in direct combat. The risk is considered particularly high for stations located near the borders of Khyber, Mohmand, and Dara Adamkhel, where militants can maintain concealment while launching these aerial assaults.
