Recent reports highlight a disturbing trend of domestic violence in Bangladesh, where husbands are identified as the primary perpetrators in over sixty percent of cases. The issue gained public attention following the viral circulation of a video showing Mukta Islam being assaulted by her spouse, an incident that only surfaced after her passing. Shortly thereafter, another young woman, twenty-year-old Al Maida Akter, died following persistent physical abuse. Evidence suggests Maida had documented her injuries, including facial wounds, just days before her death. Her husband attempted to escape after the incident but was apprehended by local residents and transferred to police custody. These tragic events underscore the ongoing prevalence of spousal abuse and the severe consequences faced by victims who endure regular violence within their households.
