Recent flooding of the Narayani River has resulted in the destruction of approximately 1.15 kilometers of protective embankments within the Chitwan region. Officials from the Irrigation and Water Resources Management Project reported that the damage occurred across several forest and residential areas, including Siddhiganesh, Majhuwa, and Hirapur. While the existing infrastructure successfully mitigated more severe flooding impacts in Chitwan, the situation proved more challenging on the Nawalparasi side of the river, where fewer embankments have been built. Consequently, the Nawalparasi bank experienced substantial soil erosion in locations such as Amaltari and Nandapur. Authorities continue to monitor the structural integrity of the remaining flood defenses along the 35-kilometer stretch from the Narayani Bridge to Golaghat.
