For the first time in the thirty-three-year history of the SAFF Championship, Nepal will not participate in the upcoming tournament. The South Asian Football Federation confirmed the exclusion after the All Nepal Football Association failed to have its FIFA suspension overturned by the September 30 deadline. FIFA originally imposed the indefinite ban in late June, citing external interference in the national body's internal management. Consequently, the Nepali national team will be absent from the fifteenth edition of the regional competition, scheduled to take place in Bangladesh this November. Although organizers had initially included Nepal in the match schedule pending a resolution, the persistence of the suspension has now finalized their absence from international play.
