Authorities in Nepal have rescheduled the first round of their national vitamin A distribution program for the 2026/27 fiscal year to November 3 and 4. Originally planned for mid-October, the initiative was postponed due to the Dashain festival. According to the Department of Health Services, approximately 2.1 million children between the ages of 6 and 59 months are slated to receive vitamin A capsules. Additionally, about 2 million children aged one to five years will be administered deworming medication. Supplies have already been dispatched to provincial health centers to ensure nationwide coverage. This public health effort, which aims to mitigate health risks among the youth, has been a consistent government practice since the programs were first established in 2050 BS for vitamin A and 2056 BS for deworming treatments.
