New Hampshire residents participated in primary elections on Tuesday to determine the party nominees for the upcoming November midterms. Democratic Representative Chris Pappas secured his party's nomination for the Senate seat currently occupied by the retiring Jeanne Shaheen. He is set to compete against Republican former Senator John E. Sununu, who also won his primary contest. This particular Senate race is viewed as a significant factor in the broader struggle for control of the upper chamber of Congress. Meanwhile, the contest to succeed Pappas in the 1st Congressional District remains undecided as Stefany Shaheen and Maura Sullivan remain in a close race. On the Republican side of that district, Anthony DiLorenzo emerged victorious. Additionally, incumbent Governor Kelly Ayotte successfully secured the Republican nomination and will face Democratic challenger Cinde Warmington in the general election.
