The Nepalese Ministry of Finance reports that recent natural disasters have severely hindered trade operations along the northern border. Flooding in the Rasuwa region has halted the flow of goods from China, leading to a notable decline in customs tax collection. Furthermore, the destruction of 55 kilometers of the Betrawati–Rasuwagadhi road, combined with a structural collapse at Krishnabhir, has effectively severed vital supply chains. Finance Secretary Dr. Ghanshyam Upadhyaya informed the House of Representatives’ Finance Committee that the government is attempting to mitigate these logistical challenges by increasing personnel at the Korala border crossing. Despite these efforts to establish an alternative import route, the extensive damage to infrastructure continues to impede the movement of essential supplies and negatively affect national revenue streams.
