Data from KazAvtoZhol indicates that heavy freight vehicles are significantly damaging Kazakhstan's infrastructure. During the initial eight months of 2026, automated monitoring systems identified approximately 870,000 instances of vehicles surpassing legal weight thresholds. Among these recorded cases, 139,000 involved trucks exceeding 50 tons, while 12,000 vehicles weighed over 100 tons. Notably, around 1,000 trucks were found to exceed 200 tons. Officials report that this consistent overloading causes rapid degradation of road surfaces, manifesting as ruts, deformation, and structural displacement. These issues necessitate more frequent and costly repairs, particularly on highways that have recently undergone construction or renovation. The findings highlight a critical challenge for maintaining the longevity of the national transport network.
