A new organization, the Professor G.L. Peiris Trust for Legal Education and Research, has been inaugurated at the University of Colombo. The initiative aims to bolster academic pursuits and scholarly investigation within the nation's legal sector. During a formal event at the university's Senate House, key figures from academia, the legal community, and civil society gathered to witness the signing of the trust deed. The board of trustees includes the Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, the Principal of the Sri Lanka Law College, and Dr. Amanthi Bandusena. Funding for the trust will be derived from royalties generated by ten books authored by Professor G.L. Peiris concerning the country's legal framework and judicial systems.
