A recent security drill at Oslo airport has highlighted potential vulnerabilities associated with connected vehicles. During the exercise, Norwegian soldiers discovered that rental cars, specifically models manufactured by the Chinese brand Deepal, had recorded sensitive data. The onboard camera systems captured footage of military personnel movements, specific travel routes, and access codes used for secure facility entry points. This incident, reported by the newspaper Dagens Naeringsliv, has prompted concerns regarding the data privacy and security risks posed by modern connected electric vehicles. The recordings were identified by military staff while interacting with the vehicle's interface during the mid-September event. Authorities are now evaluating the implications of these findings as connected car technology becomes increasingly integrated into daily transportation, raising questions about how such data is stored and potentially accessed by manufacturers.
