The Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) has issued a directive for indigenous residents in isolated parts of Kelantan and Terengganu to relocate to secure areas before flood conditions deteriorate. With the Northeast Monsoon expected to span from late October 2026 until March 2027, local leaders including village heads and security committee members have been tasked with enhancing emergency preparedness. This precautionary measure follows a forecast from the Malaysian Meteorological Department, which anticipates between three and five periods of sustained heavy rainfall from November 2026 through January 2027. Authorities are emphasizing the importance of proactive evacuation to mitigate risks associated with landslides and sudden flooding, urging residents not to delay their departure until emergency situations arise.
