A 38-year-old individual in Teluk Intan, Perak, has reported the loss of approximately RM12.47 million due to an alleged cryptocurrency theft. The victim discovered that digital assets were moved from his personal wallet without authorization around 1 pm on October 9. Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin confirmed that initial inquiries indicate the funds were transferred via a blockchain network. Authorities are currently investigating the incident to trace the movement of the assets and identify the perpetrators. The investigation is being supported by the Crypto Unit of the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department. The case is being processed under Section 420 of the Penal Code regarding cheating.
