The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced that Representative Martin Romualdez has finished his required diagnostic tests while remaining under medical care. Following consultations between PNP medical staff and doctors at Cardinal Santos Medical Center, officials confirmed the lawmaker is receiving treatment for hypertension and heart-related concerns. Romualdez was admitted to the facility earlier this week after experiencing health complications, including an anxiety attack and unstable blood pressure. His legal team has also cited conditions such as Type 2 diabetes and hypothyroidism in court filings. Currently, the former House Speaker is under arrest following plunder charges involving alleged kickbacks from government projects between 2022 and 2025, which he denies. While authorities have discussed moving him to the PNP General Hospital, he remains at the private medical center under the direct supervision of his attending physicians.
