Chabad Patong has officially announced that the Jewish New Year festivities scheduled for September 11 in Phuket will proceed as planned. This decision follows a formal petition from the Protect Phuket Land Group, which requested the cancellation of the event due to fears regarding potential security threats and third-party violence. The gathering, expected to host approximately 1,000 participants, prompted local authorities to convene a meeting with organizers and relevant agencies. During these discussions, officials highlighted concerns regarding public safety and the potential implications for the island's tourism reputation, urging the organizers to re-evaluate their plans. Despite these pressures and the expressed apprehensions from community groups, the organizers have maintained their commitment to holding the celebration at Chabad House Patong and a local hotel.
