The Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA), an affiliate of the Qatar Foundation, is shifting its operational strategy to prioritize early intervention, preventative measures, and tailored treatment plans alongside its traditional management services. Executive director Dr. Abdullah al-Hamaq noted that the organization currently serves approximately 48,000 individuals each year. With a base of 9,000 registered members, the association offers comprehensive support, including nutritional guidance, fitness facility access, and essential medical equipment like blood-glucose and blood-pressure monitors. Dr. al-Hamaq emphasized that while assisting those currently diagnosed remains a core objective, the QDA is increasingly dedicating resources to public awareness campaigns and proactive health strategies to mitigate the prevalence of the condition.
