Minister of Housing, Construction and Water Supply Dr. H.M. Susil Ranasinghe announced that 5,000 state-supported residential units will be officially transferred to citizens on October 5. This initiative coincides with World Habitat Day, which will be celebrated under the theme "A Safe Home for All" with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya presiding as the primary guest. In addition to the handover ceremony, the government has organized a nationwide Habitat Week. Officials stated that the administration aims to complete 30,000 housing units by the end of the year as part of a broader strategy to ensure secure housing for all citizens. Priority for these allocations is being directed toward low-income households to improve living conditions for vulnerable populations across the country.
