Reports from the Russian state news agency TASS indicate that Saudi Arabia will no longer serve as the host for the upcoming Intervision song competition. Citing an anonymous source, the report suggests the event might be delayed until 2027 due to various unspecified circumstances. This development creates uncertainty for the Russian-led initiative, which was intended as an alternative to the Eurovision Song Contest. Saudi officials had previously noted that Russia had not formally transferred organizational responsibilities to them. The Intervision contest was revived by the Russian government in 2025 following Moscow's exclusion from the Eurovision event in 2022. While the inaugural modern edition in Moscow featured participants from 22 nations, the future of the project remains unclear as organizers navigate logistical and geopolitical challenges.
