Military forces belonging to the Saudi-led coalition successfully engaged and destroyed an incoming drone near Riyadh this Saturday. Coalition spokesperson Turki al-Malki confirmed the interception via social media, noting that the resulting debris caused no casualties or damage. While the source of the unmanned aerial vehicle remains officially unconfirmed, the incident follows a series of recent escalations involving Houthi rebels from Yemen. These militants have frequently targeted Saudi infrastructure, including airports and oil facilities, in recent weeks. Although the coalition recently accused the group of attempting an attack on the Medina region, the Houthis have disputed that specific allegation. These ongoing hostilities continue to pose significant challenges to the kingdom's security and its long-term economic development objectives.
