Secretary Vince Dizon is scheduled to visit a drainage enhancement site on Roxas Boulevard this Monday. This inspection is part of a broader initiative by the Department of Public Works and Highways to mitigate persistent flooding issues within the capital. The government is currently implementing several infrastructure improvements, including the repair of pumping stations, the expansion of drainage inlets, and the installation of water-retention systems to facilitate better stormwater management. Dizon has specifically ordered the redesign of inlets on key thoroughfares to accelerate water drainage. Furthermore, the department is developing three detention basins at Rizal Park, which will collectively hold a volume of water comparable to three Olympic-sized swimming pools. These efforts follow recent progress assessments at the Padre Faura Pumping Station, as officials aim to finalize key infrastructure upgrades to improve the city's overall flood resilience.
