South Korea and Uzbekistan have initiated a new framework to broaden their bilateral relationship by moving beyond central government interactions. The inaugural Uzbekistan-Korea Interregional Cooperation Forum, held in Seoul this past Friday, brought together over 50 regional leaders and officials to foster direct collaboration between local governments and businesses. This shift aims to decentralize the partnership, which has historically been managed exclusively by national authorities and large corporations. During the event, South Korean representatives committed to providing policy-financing assistance to support these efforts. Both nations identified specific sectors for potential regional investment, marking a strategic move to deepen economic and administrative ties at the local level rather than relying solely on high-level diplomatic channels.
