South Korea is currently assessing the possibility of participating in security operations within the Strait of Hormuz. This deliberation follows the dispatch of a reconnaissance team to the Middle East to evaluate the regional situation. Seoul faces a significant diplomatic challenge as it balances requests from its primary security partner, the United States, against the potential risk of hostile reactions from Iran. Analysts suggest that if South Korea proceeds with a deployment, it should prioritize a cautious approach, ensuring any contribution remains limited in scope and integrated into a wider international coalition to mitigate the risk of being drawn into a localized conflict.
