Sri Lankan authorities are escalating diplomatic and judicial interventions to prevent the execution of Anojan Sivarasa, who was sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia following a social media publication classified as blasphemous. A legal team consisting of four senior attorneys, including Azard Navavi, Faizer Musthapha, Upul Kumarapperuma, and Hafeel Farisz, is scheduled to visit Riyadh. They will coordinate with local counsel to finalize an appeal and explore options for sentence commutation or release. Simultaneously, a dedicated parliamentary delegation will conduct a separate mission to Saudi Arabia to advocate for clemency on behalf of the Sri Lankan citizen. These combined efforts reflect the government's commitment to utilizing both formal legal channels and diplomatic engagement to resolve the case.
