The Sri Lankan government has officially opened its third Metro Bus depot located in Ekala, Ja-Ela, as part of an ongoing initiative to modernize urban public transportation. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Prasanna Gunasena alongside Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Anil Jayantha. This new facility will facilitate the deployment of 20 additional buses to the Metro Bus network. The service operates along a 29.9-kilometer route connecting the Gampaha District's Ekala area to Thalawathugoda in Colombo. The route features 21 designated stops, including key transit points such as Borella, Rajagiriya, and Battaramulla Junction, aimed at enhancing overall transit efficiency for commuters in the region.
