The MinGeoMod 2026 International Olympiad, hosted in Uzbekistan's Bostanlyk district, challenged students to demonstrate expertise in digital geological modeling. Organized by national ministries and Micromine Australia, the event featured 44 participants from 11 universities across Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan. The competition required teams to utilize the Micromine software suite to transform raw exploration data into comprehensive three-dimensional block models. The MacroMiner MISIS team, representing the Almalyk branch of the National University of Science and Technology MISIS, earned first place by successfully executing complex tasks, including data validation, wireframe construction, and mineral grade interpolation. Their victory underscored the necessity of integrating advanced digital tools with theoretical geological knowledge in modern mining education. By presenting their technical workflow and logical reasoning, the students demonstrated professional proficiency in interpreting geological data and applying sophisticated modeling techniques to real-world mining scenarios.
