Thai Airways Chief Executive Officer Chai Eamsiri has publicly apologized for significant operational challenges currently impacting Suvarnabhumi Airport. The national carrier is grappling with a combination of staff shortages and malfunctioning baggage handling equipment, which have led to widespread service interruptions. These technical and logistical difficulties have resulted in delays for 34 scheduled flights, while luggage belonging to passengers on 52 separate flights remains affected by the ongoing crisis. The airline is working to address these systemic issues to restore normal service levels and mitigate the inconvenience caused to travelers. Management has acknowledged the severity of the situation as they attempt to resolve the equipment defects and staffing gaps that have hampered ground operations during this period.
