The Thai Hotels Association (THA) has expressed concerns regarding a 20% decrease in travelers from ASEAN countries during the upcoming peak season. Thienprasith Chaiyapatranun, the organization's president, noted that while high-end accommodations are seeing steady bookings, mid-range and budget hotels continue to struggle. This downturn is attributed to recent flooding incidents and the price sensitivity of regional visitors. Furthermore, the THA is voicing strong opposition to potential new travel taxes, arguing that such levies would significantly increase flight costs and further deter tourists. While long-distance markets show signs of stability, the short-haul segment remains weak. The association expects overall performance for the final quarter of the year to remain stagnant compared to the previous year's figures, highlighting a fragmented recovery within the national hospitality sector.
