A judge in Mexico has handed down prison sentences exceeding 158 years each to three men convicted of murdering two Australian brothers and their American companion. The victims, Jake and Callum Robinson, along with Carter Rhoad, were on a surfing excursion in Baja California when they were killed during a failed robbery attempt on April 27, 2024. The perpetrators attacked the group while they were camping in a secluded coastal region near Ensenada. Following an extensive search, the bodies of the three men were discovered in a well located on a cliff, each bearing fatal gunshot wounds to the head. This violent incident caused significant international outrage and deeply affected the local Ensenada community, which is widely recognized as a popular destination for global surfing enthusiasts. The court finalized the sentencing last week, concluding a high-profile legal case that highlighted security concerns for tourists in the region.
