Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) has reached significant milestones by delivering its domestically produced Hürkuş trainer aircraft to the Turkish Air Force and finalizing an export deal with Azerbaijan. Developed under the oversight of the Presidency of Defense Industries, the project highlights the growth of Turkey's defense ecosystem. The Hürkuş serves as a fundamental platform for pilot training, teaching essential flight dynamics before personnel transition to advanced combat jets. Beyond training, the aircraft is capable of close air support, boasting a 1,600-horsepower engine that outperforms many global competitors in speed and maneuverability. With a 1,500-kilogram payload capacity, the aircraft demonstrates versatility in various operational roles. This success reflects a strategic, incremental approach to industrial development, allowing Turkey to cultivate a skilled workforce and reduce dependence on international suppliers while establishing a competitive presence in the global aviation market.
