The Turkish administration has refrained from issuing an official statement concerning new educational dress code regulations in Azerbaijan. These amendments, introduced by the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers, have been widely perceived as a prohibition on the use of headscarves in classrooms, leading to reports of students being denied entry. This lack of response from Ankara follows a speech delivered by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the United Nations General Assembly on September 22. During his address, Erdoğan criticized the implementation of headscarf bans in schools globally, characterizing such measures as a form of discrimination and a manifestation of rising Islamophobia. Despite his vocal stance against these policies in Western nations, the Turkish government has not addressed the specific situation occurring in Azerbaijan.
