Turkish legal authorities have prepared an indictment against popular musician Mabel Matiz, alleging that a specific sequence in his music video for the song "Ha Leylim" violates public morality standards. The legal action centers on a scene featuring two men dancing, which prosecutors have categorized as obscene under Article 226 of the Turkish Penal Code. The document, currently awaiting approval from an Istanbul court, requests a prison term ranging from six months to three years, in addition to a financial penalty. This move occurs amidst a broader governmental effort to restrict LGBTQ-related content and expression within the country. The contested footage depicts the artist alongside another male performer, an act that officials claim exceeds acceptable societal norms.
