Authorities have registered a case against Congress members of parliament Imran Masood and Imran Pratapgarhi for allegedly trespassing onto the Jamia Millia Islamia campus. The university administration filed a formal complaint, accusing the politicians of inciting disorder during a student demonstration. According to the registrar, Mahtab Alam Rizvi, the parliamentarians gained unauthorized entry by climbing a wall and damaging a lock. Students at the institution have been protesting since October 12, specifically calling for the reinstatement of student union elections, which have been suspended since 2006. Five students had also initiated a hunger strike as part of the agitation. Following these events, the university announced on Sunday that the protests had concluded after reaching a mutual agreement with the demonstrators.
