The Altyn Dala State Nature Reserve in Kazakhstan has successfully welcomed the birth of two Przewalski's horse foals, named Botai and Tumar. These animals were born at the Alibi Reintroduction Center to mares Tessa and Umbra, both of which were relocated from Berlin's Tierpark earlier in 2024. Botai arrived on August 22, 2026, followed shortly by Tumar. The names chosen for the foals reflect local heritage; Botai honors the ancient archaeological culture associated with early horse domestication, while Tumar draws inspiration from a traditional Kazakh amulet. This development marks a significant achievement for the regional wildlife conservation efforts overseen by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
