President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan recently met with Captain Smit Machchhar, the Flydubai pilot who gained international attention following a violent incident on a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. During the event in Abu Dhabi, the President commended the captain and his crew for their bravery, welcoming them as members of the UAE community. The meeting included a lighthearted moment where the President jokingly offered the pilot jiu-jitsu lessons. The incident occurred on September 30, when the captain was assaulted by his co-pilot with an axe. Despite sustaining serious injuries, Captain Machchhar managed to open the cockpit door, enabling passengers and crew to intervene and restrain the attacker after the aircraft experienced a sudden, sharp descent of 17,000 feet.
