Authorities in Cumilla have apprehended an auto-rickshaw driver, Sumon Mia, in connection with the killing of a 15-year-old student. Police recovered the victim's mobile phone based on information provided by the suspect, who reportedly admitted to sexually assaulting the girl. Despite the arrest, investigators are still examining several inconsistencies regarding the incident. The victim was transported to a remote paddy field via a 30-kilometre route, even though her intended destination was significantly closer. Given the girl's long-term residency in the area, officials are questioning how she was diverted so far off course without resistance or awareness. Furthermore, police are currently investigating whether other individuals participated in the crime. A briefing held at the District Police Superintendent’s Office confirmed that while the primary suspect is in custody, the full circumstances surrounding the abduction and subsequent murder remain under active inquiry.
