The Uzbek government has officially approved the launch of an annual international startup contest titled Land of Startups, scheduled to begin in April 2027. Backed by a five million dollar prize pool, the initiative seeks to foster technology transfer and establish the nation as a prominent regional innovation center. The competition focuses on five key sectors, including artificial intelligence, fintech, social digital solutions, creative industries, and industrial technology. Twenty-five winning teams will each receive up to 200,000 dollars in venture funding following a due diligence review. Additionally, the government has updated regulations for IT Park residents, simplifying reporting requirements and expanding the scope of permitted activities to include hardware manufacturing, such as robotics and microelectronics. These measures align with broader national strategies to build a robust ecosystem for startup support and technological development.
