Uzbekistan's international reserves have climbed past $72 billion, primarily driven by a significant surge in global gold prices. The value of a troy ounce rose by approximately 13.6%, influenced by geopolitical instability in the Middle East, a softer US dollar, and increased demand from exchange-traded funds. Furthermore, the Central Bank expanded its physical gold holdings by 8.05 tons, pushing the total value of gold reserves to $64.93 billion, which now accounts for nearly 90% of the nation's total assets. While gold holdings grew, foreign currency assets saw a reduction of $1.02 billion, settling at $6.64 billion. The Central Bank maintains a conservative strategy, aiming to gradually diversify its portfolio to mitigate risks, stabilize the national currency, and ensure the country remains capable of meeting its international financial commitments.
