A presidential decree issued on September 21 outlines Uzbekistan's strategy to resume hosting ATP, WTA, and ITF tennis tournaments starting in October 2026. These events will be funded through charitable contributions. The initiative also focuses on grassroots development, introducing tennis into the physical education curriculum for primary school students beginning in 2027. The Uzbekistan Tennis Federation will oversee the Republican Tennis School of Olympic Reserve, aiming to recruit international coaches and improve infrastructure. By 2030, the nation intends to significantly increase its number of professional players and coaches, targeting a top-five ranking in Asia. Furthermore, the government is transitioning state-owned tennis facilities toward self-financing models and establishing new financial incentives for medalists at the Asian Games and Asian Para Games to bolster the sport's national standing.
