The Algerian Ministry of Defense has officially declared that its national airspace will be closed to all civilian and military aircraft registered in the United Arab Emirates starting at midnight on September 11. This directive follows the government's recent decision to terminate diplomatic relations with the Gulf nation. While the ban encompasses all flights entering or exiting the country, the authorities have granted a temporary exemption for Emirati commercial operations currently serving Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers. These specific flights are permitted to continue their scheduled services until the existing contractual agreements conclude at the end of 2026.
