The Road Division Office in Baitadi has officially cancelled ten infrastructure contracts due to persistent delays and failure to adhere to stipulated project timelines. The affected initiatives involve various maintenance, safety upgrades, and road improvement tasks across major routes, including the Mahakali, Jayaprithvi, and Madhyapahadi highways, as well as the Satbanjh–Gokuleshwar–Darchula road. According to information officer Kapil Prasad Panta, the authorities intend to pursue legal measures against the responsible contractors. These actions include recommending the firms for blacklisting and initiating the recovery of performance bonds, deposits, and any unrecovered advance payments in accordance with existing regulations. This decision follows a long period of inactivity on these construction sites, prompting the local road office to take formal steps to address the stalled development work.
